Wherever possible, the information is obtained visually from the veteran's grave. Also, such sources as the State Archives, National Archives and the donation of individual donors has helped to compile this listing. Any previously published material that is used in this research is acknowledged at the end of this work. We must admit that not all veterans will ever likely be recorded here. Due to the nature of this quest, we are somewhat limited to recording those gravestones that were supplied by the US Veterans Administration and proclaim that the soldier was a Confederate veteran. However, whenever possible, names and dates are recorded at cemeteries for any man born between 1800 and 1850 and then checked in Booth's and other sources to see if this person may have served. It is also important to know if a person shows as serving in a Company that came from that particular region. Yes, there are likely some mistakes in this research but I feel very confident about most all that we have proclaimed as veterans. Many, many individuals have contributed the names of their ancestors and others have contributed the names from entire cemeteries or even parishes in some instances.
